Peru - Coastal Plain
I've traveled extensively in my life and been to many countries, but Peru was something very unique for me. It was a relatively long journey, almost 4 weeks, filled with amazing experiences. When I got back home, I began preparing a lecture. It turned out that it's impossible to condense such a journey into one lecture of 60 or even 90 seconds without leaving out a lot. It seemed like I had traveled in two worlds. The Coastal Plain is one world, and the Inca Land is another. As a bonus, there's a third world – a flight to an Amazonian island and spending 3 days in a real jungle. As a result, two lectures were created. Here, we will talk about the Coastal Plain.
For many years, I've wanted to visit Peru. The reason? Simple. About 30 years ago, I came across the trilogy about the chariots of the gods by Erich von Däniken. For those who don't know him, he claims that life on Earth was created by extraterrestrials, and he interprets certain places and phenomena in a way that, according to him, can only be explained this way. After I finished reading, I passed it on to my eldest son, Rotem. Both of us became obsessed with it, and then came the film Chariots of the Gods, which we watched together and got even more hooked.
One of the places that Erich von Däniken mentioned in his book is Nazca – in Peru. Over the years, Rotem went backpacking to Peru and saw the place. I couldn't join him, so now I wanted to see it. But if I'm already here, I might as well continue.
The journey along the Coastal Plain. It starts in Lima, the capital, continues from there to Paracas – sailing among islands inhabited by various birds, penguins, sea lions, and more. From there, we go to Huacachina, where you slide on dunes as if they were snow. We continue to Nazca, including an amazing flight above the famous lines and figures, then to Arequipa – the White City, from there to watch condors in the Colca Canyon, Puno – sailing on Lake Titicaca at an altitude of 3,800 meters, and more and more.
It's also possible to upgrade the event and turn it into an unforgettable hybrid armchair adventure!
